Drag Queen Story Hour

As part of its Pride Month celebration, the Duxbury Free Public Library will host a Drag Queen Story Hour on June 25 at 4pm.

Drag Queen Story Hour captures the imagination and play of gender fluidity in childhood and emphasizes acceptance through joy and learning. With programs like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present how they wish, and where dress-up is real. All that matters when you play and dress up is that you feel comfortable, creative, and get to be who you are. LGBTQ-positive programs such as this one are a vital part of making the world a safe and affirming place for all children (and adults). Everyone needs role models, especially children, and all children can learn to embrace gender diversity and learn empathy. The Duxbury Free Library’s mission has always been to be a welcoming place for all.

In support of the Library’s mission and the Duxbury LGBTQ community, we encourage DfA members to attend this event!
